Renewal of Strategic Partnership between Astro Arena and OCM
Astro Arena has also renewed its strategic partnership with the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) to provide media coverage for national sports associations affiliated to the council for another 5 years from 2015 to 2020. The renewal of the strategic partnership was announced today, and it was witness by Minister of Youth and Sports, Khairy Jamaluddin.

Khairy Jamaluddin said, “The Ministry of Youth and Sports applaud the cooperation between Astro Arena and OCM to raise awareness for our local sports. The wide coverage of the 28th SEA Games on multiple platforms is commendable and I ask all Malaysians not to miss the opportunity to catch our athletes in action and to cheer for them. I am encouraged to see this collaboration reigniting passion for local sports, be it football, sepaktakraw, badminton and hockey. I hope the next five years will result in more positive developments. We owe it to our talented sportsmen and sportswomen to give them the foundation to succeed.”

President of the Malaysian Olympic Council, Tunku Tan Sri Imran Tuanku Ja’afar, said “The strategic partnership between OCM and Astro Arena has worked well because both parties are deeply passionate about sports and share the desire to see our athletes achieve greatness in sporting arenas. With the solid foundation laid in the first five years, we look forward to further advance our common goals of giving talented Malaysians the platform to shine. Many local sports have benefitted from the larger audience brought about by the coverage provided by Astro Arena.”

Lee of Astro said, “Since Astro Arena was launched in 2010, we have worked closely with OCM to increase the coverage of local sports. We are pleased to share that over 17,000 hours of local sports content have been produced since then, raising the profile of many local sports. It has also paved the way for Astro to work hand-in-hand with NSAs to propel local sports to the next level. It is truly heartening to see the successful inaugural season of SepakTakraw League, which was launched last November. The first amateur sepaktakraw league is made possible by the partnership between Persatuan SepakTakraw Malaysia and Asia Sports Venture, Astro’s sepaktakraw arm.”
