Forget Me Not is a story about Lim Xue Ming (played by Remon Lim) who abandoned her two sons in order to live a better life. At 16, Xue Ming was raped by a gangster named Shao Bing. When she got pregnant, her conservative and proud parents forced her to marry Shao Bing to protect their family honour. Feeling ashamed and helpless, Xue Ming finally agreed and gave birth to her first son, Wei Yi (played by William San), followed by her second son, Wei Hao (played by Coby Chong), two years later.
Xue Ming however, lived an unhappy life as she was constantly abused by her husband. Determined to live a new life, Xue Ming took her two sons with her and ran away from home. Unfortunately, as they escape, a car knocked into Wei Hao while he was chasing after his mother and has caused him brain damage. At that point, Xue Ming who yearned to start afresh, took a harsh decision to abandon her two young children. 21 years later, Xue Ming is now married to a rich tycoon and is living the life that she always dreamt of. Her two sons however, lived a life missing their mother and since the accident, Wei Hao has been living with the mentality of a seven year old. What happens when she meets back the sons that she once abandoned? Will they forgive her?
Remon’s role was certainly a big challenge for the veteran actress as she had to get into her character as a mother who faces her past sins of abandoning her two sons and how she copes with her new life after marrying the rich owner of jewelery business, Lee Xin De (played by Jordan Voon). The drama series also saw experienced actor, Coby Chong, taking up a much challenging role than all his previous roles as 28-year-old Yang Wei Hao who has the mentality of a seven year old, caused by a car accident when he was young. It is a proud achievement for Coby as he beats actors like Leslie Chai and Adrian Tan to clinch this role.
Meanwhile, Wei Hao’s elder brother, Wei Yi, is played by one of Malaysia’s most eligible bachelor and astounding actor, William San. Besides having complicated relationships with three women in the show, this series will also see William going shirtless on national television for the first time. In preparation for his role, William had been frequenting the gym and even tanned himself.
Malaysia’s sweetheart, Wayne Chua is back to star in this much-anticipated series, which is also her first local drama series since her return to Malaysia from her blooming career in Singapore a few years ago. Wayne takes on a challenging role this time as Lim Li Wen, Xin De’s mistress, with intense scenes that include her character getting brutally abused and raped by Xin De’s son, Guo Xiu (played by Leslie Chai). Playing her brother (Lim Jia Bao) is up and rising star, Adrian Tan, who is a good for nothing young man who often daydreams and uses his mother as his “shield”.
Meanwhile, Jordan Voon (as Lee Xin De) is a lucky guy to have three talented and beautiful female cast starring alongside him with Angela Chan (as Chen Yong En) playing his first wife, Remon Lim (as Lim Xue Ming) his second wife and his mistress, played by Wayne Chua (as Lim Li Wen). In the show, these three women go head to head to win the heart of Xin De – a rich casanova and jewelry business tycoon who owns the Lee Corporation.
Popular veteran actress in the 90s, Angela Chan makes a comeback with her outstanding role as Yong En. A prim and proper lady, Yong En is always dressed in her best. Together with her son, Guo Xiu, Yong En is the show’s antagonist. The actress is also said to go the extra mile by using her own sets of clothes, jewelleries, and other accessories specially for this drama series.
In its opening, the drama begins in the year 2011 when the city is rocked by a brutal kidnap-murder case of one of Malaysia’s jewellery business tycoon and COO of Lee Corporations, Xue Ming. The arrested suspect was later found to be her former employee, Wei Yi (William San). After Wei Yi was arrested, the police found out that he is Xue Ming’s son from a previous marriage. Wei Yi adamantly admits that he was the one who killed his mother. Since then, it has become the hot topic in town, causing an uproar of public opinion.
The story then flashes back to 33 years ago in a small rural town in Malaysia where Xue Ming, who was just a young girl then, was raped by a gangster named Shao Bing and gave birth two her two sons. Her husband, Shao Bing, is lazy, abusive, greedy, alcoholic, a compulsive gambler and worst of all, a drug addict. He treated Xue Ming and his two children like a punching bag, often abusing and threatening them. One day, Shao Bing forced Xue Ming and his children to smuggle heroine in an illegal operation. However, the operation was unexpectedly intercepted by the police and Shao Bing was arrested.
In the midst of the chaos, Xue Ming grabbed the opportunity to escape with her children. As they dashed across the road, Wei Hao was accidentally knocked down by a car. Wei Yi ran back to Wei Hao but their mother, Xue Ming decided to abandon them and fled alone as her desire for a brand new life overpowered her.
Wei Hao who was injured in the car accident suffered permanent brain injury, thus impairing his mental development. Homeless and hungry, Wei Yi and Wei Hao wandered the streets of a foreign town. Aunt Mei (played by Shi Fu Ru), Xue Ming’s best friend who bumped into them took pity of them and decided to adopt them as her children. However, the siblings were still missing their mother and Wei Yi promised Wei Hao that one day, they will reunite with their mother.
Time flies by quickly and it’s year 2008. Wei Yi and Wei Hao lived a happy and peaceful life together with their Aunt Mei. Although Wei Hao is mentally challenged, his optimistic nature often brings a lot of fun to the house. Despite being ridiculed and looked down upon, Wei Yi continues to take care of his younger brother by working hard to provide the best for him. He even sacrifices his own love life to care for Wei Hao. Wei Yi then got to know a new neighbour, Li Wen (played by Wayne Chua). Li Wen has a mother who is addicted to gambling and an unemployed brother Lim Jia Bao (played by Adrian Tan). She has to work hard to support her two family members and always wish that her beauty will be her weapon to marry a wealthy man one day.
Touched by his unconditional love for his younger brother, Li Wen starts to fall in love with Wei Yi. Wei Yi who is always protective over his younger brother, was fired by his car dealer boss one day. As he was unemployed, Li Wen recommended him a job at the Lee’s Corporation as a driver. Fate has brought them together when he realised that his boss was actually his long lost mother, Xue Ming.
Xue Ming however is unaware that Wei Yi is the son that she abandoned from her past. Wei Yi keeps the secret from his mother that he is her son and deliberately concealed his identity. Seeing how Xue Ming was being mistreated by the first wife of Li Xin De and their son Guo Xiu, Wei Yi pitied his mother and was always there to help her overcome difficult situations. Yong En often blames Xue Ming for robbing her husband and her prime position in the family while her son, Guo Xiu often perceived Xue Ming as the single obstruction between him and his rights over the company. Touched by Wei Yi’s help, Xue Ming starts to appreciate him more.
Xue Ming is also blessed with a daughter after getting married to Xin De. Ruo Tong (played by Jojo), a filial, kind hearted, hard working and down-to-earth girl is her greatest comfort. Ruo Tong however, was involved in a love triangle with her best friend’s boyfriend, Mark Yen whom she met when she was studying abroad. Her love affair with Mark continues even after she came back to Malaysia. Xue Ming founds out about the affair and decides to stop it. This has resulted into conflict between Xue Ming and her daughter. When Ruo Tong was down, Wei Yi gave her words of encouragement, attracting her to him.
One day, Xue Ming accidentally discovers Wei Yi’s true identity and has no choice but to admit that she is his mother. Wei Hao who knew about it later was excited and comforted as they have finally found their mother after all these years. Xue Ming decided to reunite with Wei Yi and Wei Hao under a false pretense to convince her sons to keep their relationship discreet to protect her position in the Lee’s family. In order to prevent Wei Yi and his half sibling, Ruo Tong from falling into a romantic relationship, she works with Guo Xiu to force Wei Yi to leave the company. Wei Yi could not accept the fact and decides not to meet Xue Ming.
Meanwhile, the good looking but arrogant and resentful Guo Xiu who soon notices Wei Yi’s admiration towards Li Wen, decides to pursue her just to spite Wei Yi. Not aware of Guo Xiu’s evil intentions, Li Wen starts to grow feelings towards him. Li Wen is now trapped between her love for Wei Yi and Guo Xiu. Xin De who meets Li Wen at a function was attracted to her beauty. Under Xue Ming’s encouragement and assistance, Li Wen agrees to be Xin De’s mistress but deep down in her heart, she still misses Wei Yi.
Guo Xiu and Yong En later found out about the mother-child relationship between Wei Yi and Xue Ming. On the other hand, Xue Ming’s abusive ex-husband, Shao Bing was released from prison and begins to harass and blackmail Xue Ming her for money after finding out about her new life. Xue Ming accidentally kills Shao Bing in a heated argument. Identified wrongly by a witness, Wei Hao is apprehended instead. The truth bites Xue Ming until she finally decides to turn herself in. Unfortunately before Xue Ming did so, Wei Hao is so tortured and distressed in jail that he resorted to committing suicide.
